I just have to say, I think I might need to unsubscribe from Rachel (makeupneversleeps) on Instagram. She’s a really bad influence. Hourglass released a new palette for the holidays that includes 3 of their Ambient Light powders. Two of the shades are in the permanent line and the other one is a limited edition to this palette.
The palette comes perfectly packaged with 3 mini-sized powders and a mini sized mineral veil primer. I don’t really care about the primer; I think it’s insanely overpriced for a mediocre primer. So it really is just a bonus for me, but I know many that are curious will like that extra.
I’m a huge fan of these powders and am so ecstatic they released it in a mini-palette form. To me, the palette is just right. It contains Dim Light, Incandescent Light (LE) and Radiant Light. To me, this is a perfectly balanced powder palette. Dim can be used all over the face, Incandescent is a gorgeous pinky-pearl highlight and Radiant is perfect for giving a warm glow.
Close up of Radiant Light. This has a little shimmer in it, but I find it doesn’t translate too much onto the face making it a nice bronzer. It has some orange-y tones, but I think it gives it a more natural look. I use a fluffy, soft brush to blend out.
Next is the LE shade Incandescent. I have to say, this one is gorgeous, but I might have to wear it a few more times to figure out how it will work for me. I was really impressed that the powder is so soft with so much shimmer in it. It must be very, very finely milled. The glitter only seems to catch in the light. I probably would only use as a highlight shade.
Dim light is a neutral peach that is perfect for setting makeup. I’m not sure it “blurs lines”, but it does make my face less flat. I think this will be great for everyone in the wintertime because of how much depth it gives your skin at a time when it can be so… blah.
Overall, if you have been holding out on these powders, this is a great palette to try. It contains finishing powder, a radiant bronze color and a highlight. Really versatile and perfect for on the go gals. A great gift and great way to try the primer if you’ve also been curious about that. I found mine at Sephora… but I had to ask them to get it for me as it was hidden in the back.
