I just couldn’t resist posting on this one. My MAC Archie’s girls purchases just arrived in the mail. There were 5 items I wanted, and 1 lipstick was already sold out when I got online to check it out. I took it as a sign that I probably don’t need another lipstick, even though it does look gorgeous the more photos that are coming out on the collection.
Don’t sweat it, the collection will be released at all major retailers on the 7th of February. If something you want is sold out, don’t panic. The only other item I’m considering purchasing is Veronica’s face powder. The more I see on it, the more I like it. But I have way too much, not sure it’s a need.
On to what I did get. I picked up 2 lipsticks and 2 lip glosses. A pair from Veronica and a pair from Betty. Veronica’s collection is really vampy and more nighttime, but I did like it better than Betty’s. Betty is more daytime. To each his (or her) own. I do think there’s something for everyone in this collection and it’s worth picking out a few pieces. All items are limited edition.
All items come in cute limited edition boxes and have limited edition packaging. I like the white – it feels very “cartoon”. I have very little limited edition items from MAC so I think it’s fun to have something a little different.
Veronica is a deep, deep purple. When I started seeing photos I thought “oh crap!”. But it turns into a sheer, wearable deep violet color in swatches. It’s a creamsheen that glides on. I’m in love – this is a gorgeous vampy lip. I am excited to wear this throughout the rest of winter (got to find something to stay sane for at least another month). Betty’s Girl Next Door is about what I expected. A bright baby pink with a little bit of purple undertones. So pretty and wearable and I’m glad I don’t have Angel from MAC. I think this will do me nicely.
The lip glosses! I thought I wasn’t going to like either of these, but I LOVE them both! Betty’s is a sweet pink (Stay Sweet) that has no shimmer. It glides on and feels smooth (slightly sticky, but I’ve come to expect that). Again, it’s slightly different because it has a bit of a violet undertone. Veronica’s Mall Madness is a pretty violet that is actually quite wearable.
Stay Sweet is quite opaque to my surprise and will pair nicely with Girl Next Door or can easily stand on its own. Mall Madness is also fairly opaque with some glitter. It looked cheesy in the packaging, but the swatch shows it’s quite pretty. I think this will pair nicely with Boyfriend Stealer.
Overall, I’m pleasantly surprised. I had ups and downs. The swatches on MAC looked really good and then as real photos came out, I started to get nervous! Though, I don’t have any colors similar to these 4 and all are different, but still quite wearable. Sometimes the quality with MAC can lack, especially in large collections but it does not seem that way with these products.
Temptalia.com has started reviewing all the items. My Nordstrom said they already received the items, but cannot pre-sale. They will be releasing it in store on February 7th. So will MAC stores. It’s worth checking out as I think you’ll find something that tickles your fancy. Either something a little different from Veronica or some nice daytime colors from Betty. Happy girl – though I think I’ve bought more MAC lipsticks in the past month than in my entire lifetime! I think I’ve got the rainbow covered now!
