Hey everyone! Remember me?! Long time no talking (YouTube or Blog… but I’ve been lively on instagram!). Hopefully this post will help explain the future of this site/my YouTube channel as well as some life updates.
First off, I had a little baby! That bright-eyed babe up above is Nora Kate. She was born on August 25th at 12:30pm and she was 8lbs 1oz and 22″ long. Hopefully girl will be tall! This post comes to you as she is a month old (man, time does sure fly!). A lot of things have gone on in the meantime so I wanted to tell you a little more about my intentions with the blog and YouTube channel and for those of you interested, where I’ve been for the past couple months.
First, I had some time to step back and think for a little bit. I honestly thought about re-naming and re-branding, but I decided to go ahead and keep the name. I just decided to expand the contents. It won’t be exclusively beauty, there will be a bigger mix now. While I do love blogs that are just 1 topic (or mainly one topic) I often want to write or talk to you about more than just makeup. I tried to run other sites, but it’s not practical for me. I decided that for ease of use and just my sanity, I’m not going to feel like on the blog, youtube or instagram I can just post beauty. That will probably remain my main focus, but you will start to see more and more on things around the home, baby stuff (hopefully helpful stuff) and maybe even just random thoughts and posts. I think this will be well-received and I will be really happier doing it. Often, I run into blocks when I feel boxed by beauty only and that’s often what causes hiatuses.
Last, for where I was at the past couple of months at least. First off, in my last trimester of pregnancy, we really focused on getting our house to a good place. We bought a house in February and moved in early March. While we did things here and there, we came to the realization that with a newborn we probably wouldn’t have the time to get stuff done around the house. Like I said before because I was doing so many projects around the house, the beauty aspect kind of took a dive. Plus I was in my last months of pregnancy and you kind of run out of steam at the end of the day! I did miss all of this though, so I was eager to get back into the swing of things when…
Which brings me to when I thought I’d start things up again. When I was 38 1/2 weeks along, I got a sore tooth that turned into a root canal. I had to have an emergency root canal at 39 weeks. It was so crazy because my doctor was out of the country so I had to get authorization from an on-call doctor. I couldn’t lay down or have the normal Novocaine so I had 8 shots and no pain killers. Then, my doctor unexpectedly died. So I had to get transferred to a new doctor at 39 weeks. After that, we decided to induce because it was super crazy times. Then, I had to have an emergency c-section. Which means longer recovery time. We were in the hospital longer than normal + once I got home I obviously wasn’t in the best shape. Then, I got another abscess tooth and had to have another root canal! Then, the original one went again and I had to have that one re-done! Yup, 3 root canals within about 4 weeks! I was having to take so much medications for c-sections and tooth aches (after number 3 I could barely move my jaw!) that I just wasn’t up for baby + blogging and vlogging. I tell you all of this to let you know that I did miss it and it was really, really unplanned. Everything just sort of happened at once! The good news is that they believe all the tooth problems were pregnancy/hormone related since no other cause was detected and hopefully my immune system and hormones are a little more balanced now and the problem should hopefully go away. Thanks so much to everyone sending good vibes on instagram. It means so much when you are miserable!
I hope this finds you well and I hope to see you more soon! Also, I am not being notified of comments so if I don’t reply right away I apologize! I am trying to fix my notifications. xoxo, Andie
