MAC Apres Chic

Lately, I’ve had a bit of a MAC obsession lately. It’s strange, because I had really strayed away. All those collections? Never being able to get anything you actually wanted? Horrible customer service? Why bother? I’ve had a growing list of MAC items in their permanent collection, but just never went in or strolled over to them when I was at Nordstrom’s. Then, Strong Woman and Apres Chic! So needless to say I went a tad crazy. And by a tad, I mean a lot. My Nordstrom order finally arrived today and as per usual, most (if not all) of the items are already sold out. I was able to order my mom Stereo Rose by asking my Nordstrom and they located for me and shipped it. Also, a few of the items I didn’t purchase with the collection, I actually got at a CCO (Cosmetic Company Outlet) a few months back, but they looked the same when swatched. The prices are the “standard” pricing.

Items from the collection that I picked up (or had).

I’ll just start with the two most popular. Porcelain Pink and Stereo Rose ($29 at MAC stores) are the 2 Mineralize Skinfinishes released with the collection. Both are quite nice, and I believe Stereo Rose is famous. I love them both, but they are a little on the chalky side (not as smooth as say Kevin Aucoin or Chanel), but not to bad. The wear time on these is only ok, so I generally use on top of a cream blush to extend their life. Both are limited edition.

Stereo Rose in the pan. Peachy-pink with gold veining.

Porcelain Pink in the pan. A very light, pale pink. See that pink ring around the outside? That’s how it shimmers when applied on your face.

Swatched – Stereo Rose & Porcelain Pink. When Porcelain Pink hits the sun, it shines pink.

Two mineralize blushes from the collection (the collection has 3). Amber Glow is a light peachy/soft golden glow that could function as a pretty highlight on darker skin tones. Amber Glow was limited edition and I believe the store and the Nordstrom had this item in stock. Gentle is currently sold out, but my store said they had it in stock. This item is permanent. Blushes have about 6 hour wear and Gentle is one I’d highly recommend. A pretty plum pink that will look good on fair to dark skin tones alike. Slight shimmer, but still looks good on the skin (no disco-ball). Both are $23.50.

Gentle and Amber Glow swatched.

There were 5 lipsticks released with this collection. Two, Warm Companion and & Cozy Up, were a pass for me because they did not look good… I looked dead or some walking-dead version of myself with those on. I did pick up Hot Chocolate (Satin), Apres Chic (Cremesheen) & Haute Altitude(Amplified). While all 3 are different textures, they all felt smooth and non-drying. Apres Chic and Haute Altitude just popped in the mail today so I’m not sure about wear time on those ($15).

Swatches! Hot Chocolate is a deep berry plum, Apres Chic is a very Chic rosy red that can be built up and Haute Altitude is a nude-pink that doesn’t make me look ridiculous.

Last, but not least, is the mineralize lip gloss in Stay Warm!. The texture is smooth and creamy. I had to pick up at least one of these. They are fairly sheer, so I felt no urge to pick up more than 1. Even the darker color (Rosy Romance) looked like a shiny version of my lips. This is another item that just came into the mail, but it feels nice on the lips and will be good to wear in the winter ($19.50).

The tube is quite nice. You can see shimmer in the tube, but when squeezed out and swatched, I can’t see shimmer.

Swatched over Haute Altitude and alone.

If there’s an item you’re really lusting over and can’t find at MAC or Nordstrom, I’d give your Nordstrom a ring. Free shipping and they will locate the item for you. I ordered Stereo Rose on Saturday with no problems which was probably the most popular item in the collection. Enjoy & I hope you are ready for more MAC! I had to go to the dentist today and my mouth finally got un-numb, but now it just hurts. Thinking dentures at 27 might be easier. Have a good day!
