New Hair & Update

So I was doing so good posting and then wham! I fall off the face of the earth! Well, I thought I’d do another quick post about my new hair cut and at the bottom, I’ll explain where I’ve been. So My mom scheduled me an appointment at Urban Euphoria while she was in town. I had been planning on getting my hair cut and since I mentioned, in a brief moment of weakness, that I wanted my hair highlighted, my mom struck. I haven’t had my hair highlighted in a really, really long time. I knew I was in good hands with Jess so she did some really cool techniques to my hair to lighten it up. Although I do love my natural hair color, I think this was a great balance. It’s lighter, but honestly, it blends well with my natural color. So if (and by if I mean when) I get lazy with my hair, I won’t be one of those hysterical women demanding a root touch up.

You guys already know how I feel about this salon. All the girls are amazing and fun. Andrea did my mom’s hair and it turned out great. My mom already texted me asking if we could schedule our next appointment in December (when she’ll be back in town!). I went to a different salon earlier in my past life and while the people were nice, the experience was just ok. My hair was just ok. When I asked about balayage, I got the “What’s that? We don’t do that here.” response. These guys are extremely educated and open to listening. They are doing a beyond the ponytail class for free that I’m uber excited about.

before and after

So here’s the before and after. I think most of you can tell the difference. My hair is much lighter and we did cut some length off. It has a really cute, sexy vibe to it that I love. I’m not 100% certain what you call what I did, but it was basically a technique of balayage. They did some foils in my hair of 1 color and the lightest color on the ends. You can really tell when my hair is wet, but dried it all blends together.

And of course, do you think I would not sit in Ella’s chair? She did a darker smokey on me this time. We played with some new Glo Minerals eyeshadow sticks. They were nice and creamy (with glitter!) but my eye did feel a little irritated at the end of the night. I have issues with a lot of mineral products, particularly mineral products in cream forms so I wasn’t too surprised. They were very nice pencils, though. They blended out nicely and felt good on the lids. I think my favorite part was the cheeks and the lips. I know for sure the cheeks were Bare blush and the lips were natural lip liner paired with a gloss. I had to apply my own stuff when I got home to take the pictures, but it was a pretty caramel, warm brown nude color on the lips. I was going to try to see if I had any dupes in my collection, but I may end up ordering the gloss and the blush when I go back in August.

Soooo… let’s address the where have I been part now. I partly want to tell this to you because I want you to know I had no intention of falling off the earth like I did. We were re-doing our kitchen (which is now done!) and my husband just couldn’t finish it by himself. I had to pitch in on Sunday getting the house ready for my parents and then grouting until midnight with Colin. We had to finish up on Monday after work and by Tuesday my parents were here. The plan was to have a few things done like some photos (which I did) and some videos (which wasn’t as much as I wanted, but I did) and occasionally edit & post. Well, Thursday morning someone ran into the back of my car. It was more scary than anything and it’s just been a pain ever since. I’m not 100% sure what happened to my back yet, but it feels like a pulled muscle. Livable for sure, but because of whiplash precautions I was on medications to help. What time I was awake and around I wanted to spend with my parents. They left earlier in the week, but work was literally out of control because I was gone for a few days. The early part of this week will be crazy again, but I hope to get back into the groove I was in by early August. I’m hoping that at minimum I can post a few photos of the kitchen and such and maybe get to my backlog. Sorry for my absence, but I do appreciate all the support and I promise this wasn’t intentional so I will be back to normal really soon! For those wondering, I got a new car… a Mazda CX-5 for all you curious cats! So far, I love it!

Andie, the new hair color looks absolutely stunning on you! What a great change! I am actually thinking of going darker and changing my blonde hair to darker brown with blonde highlights.
