Ah fall. So many people love this time of year and the older I get I start to see why. I think summer is always my favorite for makeup because I love a bright lip, but there is something about fall as I get older that I love. The berry lip, the pretty cheeks and lovely easy smokey eyes. But if you know anything about me, you know my true weakness is in the blush category. I have been sort of in a mom rut that I’ve actually been enjoying. It’s a quick, no-think routine that consits of some perfect early fall blushes that have yet to fail me.
I also caved and bought the By Terry Platonic Blonde fairly recently when I was in the hospital having Nora. I’m pretty sure the drugs made me do it, but I seriously can’t find fault in this blush. For $70, there should be 0 fault, though. I think this is the perfect peach shade. It’s pigmented, blends nicely, wears for however long you need it, builds beautifully and has that perfect satin finish. The compact is seriously weighty and it comes with a good amount of product. I can apply with practically any blush and get a good result. I am tempted, should I fall into a random amount of undisclosed money, to buy another. This is a great fall shade because it can be worn alone for a perfect flush or worn with bronzer.
I know that you either love or hate Chanel blushes, but I happen to love. I think most all colors suit me and even if they have shimmer, they never accentuate pores. They apply and wear nicely and at about 1/2 the price of By Terry, it puts everything in perspective I suppose!First up is the newest shade, Golden Sun. I was really excited about this when I first saw it pop up on instagram and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s actually a pretty complex shade. It’s bronze with some gray and maybe a hint of peach. It does have some shimmer. I love 2 things about this blush: 1) It’s great sans bronzer to still liven the face and 2) it’s a great layering blush. What I mean by that is it turns any shade into insta-fall. I love wearing a light layer over blushes that maybe are too pink or “too summer” to go with the change in seasons. I found mine at Nordstrom and I do believe this is limited edition.
Next was one I recently purchased BUT was probably one of the first Chanel blushes I ever had my eye on. I was told it wasn’t suited for me and later realized that anything suits you if you want to rock it. This is a great peach/bronze shade with a great finish. I think it has some shimmers in it, but it’s a beautiful satin finish. This is part of their permanent line so I held off for a long time, but I’m not regretting picking this one up at all. I think it’s a perfect hybrid transition shade and would honestly look good year round on most skin tones…despite what a stupid sales associate tells you 4 years earlier!
Last is the newest shimmer brick by Bobbi Brown – Pink Sand. This is such a great shade in general. I love the bronze/pink aspect and this is one of the first shimmer bricks I can wear regularly. Yes, it does have a noticeable sheen/shimmer, but this one looks good alone. Others can be too pigmented, not pigmented enough, too highlightery (I think that’s a word)… but this one is perfect. It has enough pink to wear on the cheeks & enough bronze to keep the color from going overboard. I also love this because it makes a pretty eyeshadow so it’s a great product if you get ready in a rush. No blush, highlight, bronzer, and shadow needed… just this! Swatches L-R: Chanel Golden Sun, Chanel In Love, By Terry Platonic Blonde, Bobbi Brown Pink Sand, Guerlain 5 Seasons Bronzer in NudeSo that’s my top 5 picks! What are yours? These are just so easy and great to have some bronze & some peach as we head into the cooler months. Anyone ready to snuggle? I’m ready for salted caramel everything at least…
xoxo, Andie
