Trish McEvoy Cherry Pop

I had to go return a massive amount of items I purchased online lately from the Gap, Nordstrom & Sephora. Plus, I had to buy a new iPhone case (working on a post for that as well, if you’re curious). I was on the hunt for a new mascara (I’ve been nursing a Chanel sample for FAR too long) and a new eyeshadow base (my Nars is almost out and the Clinque one just isn’t cutting it). I decided I’d explore a whole new brand that I’d never tried before – Trish McEvoy. I’ve heard of her, but just never ventured that way. I’ve heard her eye bases are quite amazing, so I thought I’d plop down in a chair and let the makeup artist play. I was really happily surprised. I’m going to tell you about the 3 products I picked up and my growing wishlist from Trish.

The three items that I walked home with were the beauty booster lip gloss (sexy nude), eyeshadow base in demure and mascara in lash curling. The above picture is no filter so you can see the colors.

The lip gloss is called sexy nude and comes with a nice squeeze applicator. I quite like the texture. It is a hint sticky, but I tend to like a little stick so I know it won’t be dribbling down my chin. There’s lots of shine and a little sparkle. I suppose you could wear this alone, I had a hidden agenda. I wanted to pair this with my Clinique chubby stick in Curviest Carmel. Oh. My. Gawd. This lip gloss is a perfect gloss to pair with your nudes. I’ll make sure to take a photo/wear in a video soon so you can see the combo.

The eyeshadow bases by Trish are actually quite overwhelming. There are quite a few and they have different shades – light, dark, nude, sparkly, etc. I was seriously overwhelmed with the decision, so the first one the lady put on in demure was the one I picked. It’s a lighter flesh tone color with a tiny hint of shimmer in it. It has some pink for brightening. This really is a great base – I love how it transforms. It applies like a liquid and almost goes slightly powdery… but still lasts. The swatch I did for these photos won’t budge. I’m quite happy about that. I like that it also has some color and isn’t transparent. Seems like more of the “one stop shopping” I’m looking for in an eyeshadow primer.

Last I picked up the mascara in lash curling. This just flat out intrigued me – it’s a gel formula and creates tubes around your lashes. At first, I was a little turned off by how skinny the tube and brush were (this is their more volumizing brush in the line). Though I tried it today on fresh lashes and I quite like it. I will say if you are looking for a really voluminous mascara, this isn’t it. I like it because my lashes seem to stay curled, they look long and it got every lash. I think I’ll have to settle for that trade-off. It’s pretty rare that a brush actually easily gets all my lashes. My eye shape makes it hard to get the inner part as well as outer lashes… this had no problems. My lashes are jet black and almost shiny, which I also love. I think if this was a touch more volumizing, I’d score this a 10 out of 10.

Lastly, I just want to talk briefly about the items I didn’t walk away with. I just can’t afford it right now, but have a feeling I’ll be saving for these next few items:

The Ultimate Beauty Organizer: I love her planners. The smaller ones are still quite expensive so I like that you get the big daddy + a smaller planner inside. I want this for my trips that we are taking in November. I think it will be perfect. I love how customizable they are as well. You add in inserts to the planner and they are magnetic. While I probably won’t get much more makeup from the line (which isn’t for lack of how great the products are, just how little I need them), MAC shadows and blushes should fit in here which is nice. If you are curious, she really did patent these. I checked it out and the expandable portion (like the binder) is, in fact, patented. So if you like that about her cases, you won’t be finding them anywhere else.

Makeup Brushes: I actually quite love her makeup brushes and really, really wish I had known about them much earlier. I’m surprised how little they are talked about. I own one and quite love it. I was in the market for a new bronzer brush (my Bobbi Brown one sucks… which is complete bummer). I’m actually contemplating taking it back to Nordstrom (I’m sure I still have the receipt) since I hate it so much and exchange it for Trish’s Bronzer Brush. I laughed a little because it’s much smaller than what I think of bronzer brushes, but holy cow if I’m not a convert. It’s soft, smooth and blends all types of bronzers beautifully. I also loved the versatility of the medium laydown brush. We used it for blending cream and powder products. Love – especially for concealer.

Makeup: An honorable mention of items that I think are worth looking into but just don’t make sense for me right now are the 24-Hour shadow/liner pens, intense gel eyeliner & the eyebrow shaper. I loved the color natural in the brow shaper better than the ones I’ve found elsewhere. Once my hourglass is gone, I bet I’ll be back at the counter picking that up.

Hope you enjoyed! Nordstrom is having an awesome gift with purchase that includes a lip gloss, eyeliner and eyeshadow base. I hope to make a video soon, but I still sound funny.
